i don't know **** about turbo setups for these cars, but I believe reverse split profiles are best suited to turbo setups. while youre in there you might as well upgrade other valvetrain components such as springs and rockers.

if you dont know anything about them call up someone to match one to your setup like bret bauer or someone who knows a lot about cams. that'll be the best bet. while everyone on here sounds like they know what they're doing, you want to have a professional do it if you want to get the most out of your setup.

i agree with vendetta, but make sure you get one matched to what you got!

Anthony, You can go as minimalistic or encompasing as you want. Most people get away with replacing valvesprings and retainers. usually on Lt1's i like to go ahead and replace the lifters(the comp OE is a favorite of mine), and upgrade to a one piece pushrod also. This can be especially important if your car has over 60K mi. The stock lifters at this point may not be up to the job.

As far as actual selection, in my experience LT1's LOVE dual pattern cams. Honestly with what your doing now(nitrous) and what your doing soon(turbo), you cant really pic a cam that could be a dual use in this situation.

Nitrous cams tend to favor the exhaust side to help get spent exhaust gases out and tend to use more LSA to bring the powerband back down to a manageable point in your RPM range.

Turbo cams however are either close or tend to favor the intake side a smidge to help force as much air in as possible. With FI cars, overlap is probably THE most important cam characteristic to look at. Ususally keeping your overlap under 21* is optimal, otherwise your basically blowin your boosted air out your exhaust.

Id say youd either need two cams, one now then one later to optimize your engine for the turbo, or just wait for the turbo and cam it then. The valvetrain upgrades can be reused if you use 2 cams.

Good luck and if i can help you, let me know!

Matt

get a cam for your n20. you will like it for a while so you can hold off on the turbo. when you get ready to do the turbo sell the n20 cam to fund the turbo cam.

Matt thanks a lot for your reply especially so long and informative, i feel a bit educated now.

I have this philosophy now that i want to do things right the first time on this car im just starting to mod it, and on my other i went through way too many setups....! When i get the turbo setup im still going to use the nitrous, so help spooling and so on, so is there not a cam that i can use maybe medicore for both exhaust and intake?

I just feel that getting two cams is a waste of labor hours to pay out along with time and effort. But i do see exactly what your saying.

Reason why im not wanting to wait till the turbo is because i just found out my new custom tags on this car will be RACE ME .....i wanted, 1slowV6, or got Nos....but they picked my 3rd choice! LOL and i cant be too cocky with a stock lt1 running only a 100 shot. and the tag will be here in a month!

thanks again!

even using the nitrous to help spool the turbo, ud still really want a turbo grind... Ive really never had anyone pose this question, a medecore cam for both b/c od a license plate... hmm I can give it some thought, but they are both totally different applications that have to be approached totally different.
