LS6 springs on an Lt-1?
in the near future I'll be installing a comp 501 cam in my car (.488"/.495", 212*/218*@.050, 112LSA on 1.5 rockers) along with a set of GM bow-tie 1.6 rockers. 30lb injectors. and while I'm at it, I'll probably have a buddy do some minor work to the heads (mainly a valve job and some bowl work, while polishing the chambers, smoothing the intake/exhaust runners)
the only down fall to all this is the choice of valve springs for a reasonable price.
seeing that a LS-6 spring is supposedly good for .551 lift, and the 501 cam on 1.6 rockers comes out to be .528" on the exhaust, I was considering the use of these, along with comp's 787-16 retainers. the dimensions of the retainers along with the springs leads me to believe it will all work out.
comparing the lt4 springs and ls6 springs via SDPC show that at a closed height of 1.770" the lt4's have 105lbs, the ls6's have 90. but at the open height of 1.250" they both have 275lbs... I know a beehive springs doesn't need as much closed spring pressure due to the smaller diameter/less valvetrain weight/mass.
will this work?
