Default GM 847 dont like it dont post it

im sure this has been asked a billion times, but if you dont like it dont post it. Since i'll be doing my heads very similar to the le2, what do you guys think about the gm 847? ( i know i'll need a stall) would this be too big of a cam? ( this is my sunny day car, not my dd) but even with that said, how streetable is this cam. i know its a pretty damn big cam, but will i still have fun just cruisin around with it?

I've read on other threads that it's idle and low rpm is really erratic, none the less, it's gonna pull hard! Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Its a big cam but people make some great power with it. Some guys are putting down 380ish RWHP with just the cam and boltons.

We just had a discussion on http://www.fbody.com about the stall req. of the cam. no2ta and Chedder both use it and made great points. I had a issue with getting a stupidly highstall and having the hp eaten up due to slippage. but here is the link. Bear in mind that this was the cam I wanted, or something similar. But its a street car that sees track use and I have emissions.

Enjoy!

As far as i know Altjar (cz28 name) holds the 847 stock head record with 357 RWHP. He may have got it up a few, but no 380 RWHP stock headed cars ive ever heard of.

Ditto...380 won't happen with stock heads

what does it matter if the idle and low rpm are erratic? Is it bad enough where, if you have an m6, you have to gas it constantly when sitting at a light, or do you not have to worry about it dying? Just wondering what the big deal is about having a big cam...

You can tune out a lot of the driveability issues associated with that cam. Talk to Jeff at Carolina Auto Masters.

Some people don't like a severe lope...spits & sputters. You CAN tune quite a bit of the "lopiness" out if you don't like a heavy lope; I personally like the idle of an erratic cam. My point was it will naturally idle erratic, so if you prefer a smoother idle, you may want to have it "tuned" out somewhat or go for a slightly less aggressive cam.

When I said I was going to put the CC306 into my car everybody says its gonna drive like car, idle like crap and be a pig out of the hole. The sad thing is, I am beating up most just about everyone of there cars now. Do what you really want to do and you will be happy with it.

PS: I say do it. Even with stock heads you'de prolly make a little more power than I am, so with your heads I would say around the 400-410rwhp mark with the right components.

Sorry to get off topic for a moment, but where is the powerband on a gm847 compared to a CC306?

When they say stock heads they are referring to untouched heads not just the GM castings ported like u are talkin about
