Default high elevation effect on stall rpms

Hey guys, I've been reading this site for a while now, and I finally have enough money from my summer job to start moding my 93 z28.

Anyways, as far as power making mods, I'll just be going with a cai and my borla I already have. I was also planning on installing a 3000ish TC, and thats what this post is about.

Since my car is at 5,000 feet, it is obviously way down on power compared to sea level. Knowing this I was wondering if this lack of power would affect which stall speed I should buy assuming I wanted it to stall at 3k here. I'd assume I would have to buy a higher rated stall to get my goal but I wasn't sure. When stalls are rated, the power of your car is a given variable for the stall rpms right?

Anyone have any experience in this?
Thanks

I just got back to Fort Collins CO from my summer break. I'm going to school at CSU.

I think I'm just going to get a TCI 3000 stall. I should be happy even if it stalls a bit lower.

Anyone have some last min thoughts?

Thanks

The thing to consider when looking at altitude and stall speed is simply power. As a very general rule (but it will sure work for what you are looking at) for every 25 ftlbs you add 100-150 to the stall speed. And of course, for every 25 you lose, you can subtract about 100-150.
Hope that helps.

thanks,

Between what I've gotten here and at camaroz28 I think I know enough to make my choice. I'll be sure to update everyone when I get it all installed.

The sad thing is, if I want to go to the track I have to drive down to Denver. Long trip and it is at 5,700 feet haha, I actually GAIN 700 ft going to the track. I can't win it seems lol. It is like driving a modded honda this high up!
