Now I have a "knock"
Trying to make this story as short as possible.
I was on my way to pick up my 98+ Tailights for my Trans-Am, when it started raining really bad. The road I was one is a terrible one, with two water pockets in each lane. It didn't take long for these pockets to fill up. There was no wheres to pull over at, because there is no shoulder. I had to gut it out and drive in the terrible weather. The really bad part is, that my wheels HAD to be in the water pockets. I was trying to do only 30, but it was still splashing water alot. My car started missing bad, and I could barely get it over 1,500 rpms.
After a while, the miss stopped, and my car seemed to be ok. Well, last night I went to town, and at one point in the night, I stomped it, only to see that the rpms shot all the way to redline. . .but didn't really move the car. I tested this out again, but it didn't do it a second time. I turned my car off and restarted it, then I heard a knock. I took it down the road a bit, and noticed my car didn't have as much power as before. . .almost like it was surging.
The knock can be heard when it gets to around 2,000-2,500 rpms. Upon closer inspection, it sounded like it was coming from the bottom end.
I took it to my girlfriend's dad, whom is a mechanic for Rider, and he said that I need to change the oil to see if it stops. BUT he thinks its the bearings and maybe the crankshaft that needs replacing.
Any thoughts and price estimates would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if the water situation caused this or not, but I'd thought I would throw it in there. Thanks.

My opti is pretty new (bought it in December). I don't know why the engine would start knocking like this. It has enough oil in it, and has never been low.
if your opti goes bad, sometimes it will throw the timing all over, and of course too much ignition timing = knock.... Its most likely water in the opti's laser cut disk making it not read correctly, If it was rod knock from a spun bearing or something, you would have no/very low oil pressure.

God I hope so. . .I'm going to have to check things out. Thanks for the advice.
