Hey man. Sounds like you did much better than any shop would have done for you. 
Of course, I'm sure you spent A LOT of time working on it. I've been in mine deep before but not as deep as you describe above. I'm glad to hear that you got it! Good job sealing up all that stuff. Now, the only mark you leave behind should be rubber!
