Cam selelection is somewhat of a dark art. Ask ten different people and you'll get ten different answers. When I was researching a custom cam for my forced induction set-up, it took me nearly two months! I had called the Comp Cams tech line on a couple different occassions and got different anwers each time as well. I ended going with a More performance custom grind (he uses an actual computer modeling program to take full advantage of you mods.)

To answer your question about the ASA cam: the LS1 and LT1 profiles are different, so his won't work properly on yours. The motors are way too different. cam selection is based upon the following:

-What the car will be used for
-operating range
-purpose (street appplication or race only)
-head flow/ motor combinations
-transmission
-weight of the car

To summarize, with your current mods, a custom cam is definately not needed. There are numerous LT1 off the shelf grinds that will maximize your cars potential. However, any significant mods (heads...etc) would require a cam change to reach their full potential. Your best bet is to find someone who has acheived exellent results from a cam swap and has a similar set-up to you. Additionally, you will also need to have your PCM tuned. It's better to reproduce a proven combination thatn to try and re-invent the wheel.

Cheers,
JD

Unless you are running nitrous 100% of the time, do NOT get a nitrous specific cam. you'll loose too much when not spraying. Just get a good cam that will work with your current mods and use the dope on top of it as needed.

Im pretty sure you can run up to like a 150shot without needing a nitrous cam. Im sure someone can eleborate and explain this a little more.
