Gains from LT1 to LT4 intake??

Default Gains from LT1 to LT4 intake??

Thinking about switching to the LT4 intake. What gains should I expect on a stroker motor? Would it be worth while to extrude hone my LT1 intake?? Its pretty much untouched right now except for hand filing what I could get to with it off of the car. Should I spend the money, or leave it stock?? Thanks for the help.

there are no performance gains to be found there. the lt4 intake is just made to match up with lt4 heads. it doesn't get much better than what is on the car, that's why there aren't any aftermarket lt1 intake manifolds.

The LT4 intake requires some machining to work on LT1 heads for no gains at all. As said above LT4 intake was only made to match with the LT4 heads, and GM made a lousy job at that.

Yeah really the LT4 intake needs to be ported to even halfway match the LT4 heads.

Don't feel too bad though we have no idea where people get the idea this would work but it has to be once a week someone pops up with this same question.
While on the subject the LT4 stuff isn't even that good as a package much better stuff out there so before you buy any of it READ and not friggin magazines they are glorified ads that outright lie and manipulate test every single issue. Also consider the numbers you look at people get all stary eyed when they see 425hp advertized for the LT4 HOT kit what they don't realize is their stock engine tested the same way would be over 360hp.

Thanks for the info. Would it be worth while to extrude hone the LT1 intake? I can do it for free at work, just wondering if its worth the work.

Lloyd Elliot also ports LT1 intake manifolds. He did mine. You might want to check with him.

Porting an LT1 intake is basically only worthwhile if you have the head porter do it with the heads so he can make them match. By match the intake ports should be left slightly smaller than the head ports so any misalignment does not result in a shelf. Extrude honing will indiscriminately remove material without reguard to shape or laws of airflow. Neat idea but not the best in practice.
