Just because something was discussed sometime in the past doesn't mean all discussion on that topic is prohibited from then on. As long as people don't dupe stuff that was posted yesterday I don't see what the big deal is.

I haven't noticed a lot of frequent reposts in this section. The lounge on the other hand...

There are a few in every section, but it's not a rampant problem here imo.

This is a forum, and believe it or not, that kind of is the purpose of it. If I didn't like it, I would just quit visiting....

i dont completely understand, are you pissed about wasting 15 seconds by clicking on a link with a topic you have read before? or are you pissed about seeing extra little electronic letters take up a couple inches on your screen, thus making you scroll down a little more?

The fact is that this is a forum, where people talk about stuff. Some of that stuff may have been talked about before. Maybe some people want an opinion from different people, or need it to be explained differently. If this was a place where only one or two threads per topic were ever allowed then there wouldnt be any new posts to read at all.

i personally dont have a problem helping newbies with their new cars, i don't see why you do?

besides the search function in these forums really sucks, frankly.

I don't have a problem with some reposts either....I like responding and helping some of the newer guys out. Things also change and new products come out. Threads like this on the other hand I don't like, what is the purpose of starting something like this?

I think points have been made here either way, so I am going to close this thread.

I am definatly in agreement that people could spend more time searching. A little more time up front will provide ALOT more information quicker in the long run.

However, repeat posts will come up since no matter how much we want it, there will never be a "perfect" database with everyone's "perfect" opinion on what part/experience they have had That is why forums are successful IMO.

Thanks guys!
Jason
