Yeah, people have been telling me getting a bigger throttle body doesn't really do anything. Unless I have a really high output motor or something. But, I don't plan on really doing that...

I have a 93 where tuning is not really an option unless I buy a new chip for every tune. I have long tubes, all emissions are gone, and have run a 12.2 @120 without a new chip. Maybe tuning for 94+ cars are more necessary than 93's. Must be an OBDIII thing.

All I know is that in 93 you needed to replace the chip, in 94+ you could reprogram the chip so it was alot easier to highly modify a 94+ car. If a 93 - 95 both had OBDI, then I would think that you could do the headers, converter, remove the AIR just like I did and not have any problems. You seem like you know more about tuning than I do though.

Do you have anything done to the heads or a gear or something? A 12.2 is pretty damn good at 120mph. That's pretty fast.

The car is pretty light now and I was spraying a 75 shot, but that is it. Nothing else done to the motor internally.

I just called up Automotive Engineering and they gave me a price on some hooker long tube headers. $450 for the headers and $170 for the Y-pipe. That's pretty ridiculous. I'm starting to think that it's not worth it. All that money for like 10hp? Anyone know where I can get some a little bit cheaper. People are telling me the pacesetters are cheap and won't give me the HP I can get. I've also heard that they have just ripped apart on some kid that lives local around me. I'm confused, any ideas? Maybe I should consider a different mod next? Although, headers seems like the most logical.

Currently I have a Moroso CAI, underdrive pulleys, 160' thermostat, exhaust without the cat and the metal intake elbow.

thats the kind of prices you should expect with these cars..
For hooker Lt's from summit (free shipping)
its 439.95 plus 209.95 for aluminum y pipe.

Thats pretty much the cheapest mod you are going to find that you still need. Longtubes and a new y pipe should gain you closer to 20 hp though. I still say go with the converter. .5 second gains Also do the throttle body bypass

The throttle body bypass gets me paranoid. I always think down the road I'm going to end up dripping coolant on my opti. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person and would not trust myself with that. I would constantly think something was going to happen. For a mod that may give me 2 hp, I think I should save my worries.

So, there is nothing else I can do? A stall is like a 1000, isn't it? I would consider getting a gear, but I already have 3:23. I think those are good for now.

It is very simple. Once you check out what you're doing, it's CAKE. All you have to do is remove the 2 lines, take off the steam pipe line, and connect the feed line into the steam pipe. Coolant won't drip onto your Opti I didn't put the feed line onto the steam pipe all the way and it DID leak coolant, but after it's on all the way, you are safe to go no doubt. Give it a shot. Just disconnect the MAP sensor, and the alternator brackets and you'll have SO much more room. Have some confidence in yourself man! Looking at all this and doing all this will give you a great deal of knowledge on your car. I say give it a shot, it's worth it!Here is a walkthrough on the TBB

You should also get a tune from Ion at Madz28.com and throw in a 160* thermostat

I have a 160' thermostat. Also, that walkthrough is for 95-97 Z28's. The problem I am worried about is after I do the installation. Over a period of time, I don't want it to end up leaking. I have a few bolt ons, my next mod will be headers. I just have to find the right set.

Same concept for 95-97 Z28 for the TBB It won't end up leaking, unless it's not put on the steam pipe all the way. You'll be fine. It's almost a no brainer when you're actually doing the installation.
