Default waterpump drive leak???

i put my timing cover back on and didnt replace the waterpump drive seal. When i put it on it looked to go back on with no problems. would i be able to tell if the seal broke or didnt go back on the drive right? Should I be expecting to have a leak? also, how much do these leak when they do?

When I replaced my cover, I did the same thing. I just put the cover back on with the seal in place. To the eye, it looked fine but the seal leaked BAD. Come to find out that the seal goes on after the cover is in place. When I put the cover on with the seal in place it flipped the "lips" out in the wrong direction, causing the leak. I went to the dealership and borrowed a special tool that keeps the "lips" in the proper position. Perhaps everyone else has had better luck with this cuz I had never heard of such a problem before I ran into it. Only way to see is start it up and see if it leaks.

so does this tool let you flip the "lips" back over with out taking the front cover off? or did you have to tear everything apart again to fix it?
