LT1-LT4 Modifications 1993-97 Gen II Small Block V8

Ok, need some header advice & info....

Default Ok, need some header advice & info....

I've started to save for headers... I think I'm going to go with long tubes(unless people convince me otherwise )

So, here are my questions :

1) What BRAND??? I have no frickin clue!

2) How about emissions? Do I want headers with or without it?? I live in Missouri, and we DO have emission tests here. However, since my car is OBDII, I believe I can sorta 'fake' out the PCM to think emissions are good with 02 sims? Correct?

3) If I do headers, is it recommeded to get rid of the cat & have an ORY, or just get a high flow cat?

Sorry for the questions, but I need to figure out what is up before I dump alot of cash.
I have a 97 WS6 LT1.

1. i went with some pacesetter long-tube headers and they are great... good clearance and they sound amazing!

2. do you have visual inspections? if not then aslong as the pcm isnt throwing any codes you'll be fine.

3. personally i wouldnt go with a cat, unless you have visual inspections... if you get the oryp, know its going to be very loud.

I have MAC's but if I ever change I plan to go with pacesetters. If you can afford it look into getting Kooks, there the best money can buy. In my personal opinion if your state dosen't have emmisiions testing I would get them without emmissions fittings, and with no cats. It will sound better, make installation easier, and you will be able to remove your emmissions equipment to clean up your engine bay.

Isn't it true that you will lose some low end torque if you replace the cat with a ORY?
