SFC'S and a new gear after the exh.
Just read up what other people with '97s have done to their cars and the power gains they got.

An engine is, in essence, an air pump. Air in and out. Start with a CAI, and a full headers back (Long tubes if you can) exhaust system. From there I'd suggest tires, converter if you have an auto, and gears (4.10s if you have a m6, 3.73s if you have an A4 and want to keep her having good gas mpg).

you'll solidly be in the 12s with those mods, probably right around 12.7 with a good launch!

When it comes to what an LT1 responds good to, I would say headers, exhaust, and a CAI are good to start with, then it just depends on how far you want to take it from there. Another thing I would recommend getting is a set of rear-end gears, these are a good bang for the buck item. If you have a T56, I would recommend 4.11s and if you have an automatic, then I would say go with some 3.73s. Put all of this on your car and it ought to run pretty good and be streetable, but mods also are restricted by state regulations, and how much extra money you have (thats my case).

There are also "free mods" that you can do to an LT1 if you would like, these will help it out some, but dont expect too much. The two I have dont on my LT1s are

1.) Throttle Body Bypass
2.) De-Screen The Mass Airflow Sensor

Thats something that I took off of one of my posts off of www.lt1tech.com

I post there alot more than here

These guys pretty much have it covered. But I would also like to suggest 3.42 rear-end gears rather then 3.73's. If you plan on running N/A forever in this car 3.73's will be the way to go, but if you plan on nitrous or anything like that in the future 3.42's are sometimes better because you don't run out of top-end. It's very debatable but I would go with 3.42's personally. 3.42's are also more streetable, and you will get a little better gas mileage. It's still a huge difference from the stock 2.73 or 3.23 gears. It all depends on the plans you have for your car. If you wanna go big do gears/stall/heads/cam etc. But if you want steetable and still very fast do full bolt on's, injectors, stall, 3.42's etc etc. I'm not saying 3.73's aren't streetable or anything but for a street/strip car I prefer 3.42 gears.

Also don't overlook the little things you have to do with some of these mods, such as PCM tuning and speedo adjustment for gears. Good luck.

I think a supercharger would just about cover it.
