Having heads converted is kind of expensive. If i did i would go with brodix or dart though. But for a gm 847 cam you might as well just port some stock lt1 heads or get a custom cam because an 847 wont use the full potential of a head that flows 325 cfm.

Just like the other guy said, the GM847 is not that big for that flow, maybe a solid roller. If I went to the trouble of converting a regular sbc to lt1, I'd get 18 or 14 degree heads, and yes it has been done before with exellant results.

It can be expensive to have 1st generation style heads converted to work on a 2nd generation small block, but it can be done. It just depends on what you want, and ultimately, your budget.

Have you looked into some AFR LT4 Raised Runner 215's?

It is very expensive to do it right with all the azssociated support parts. Ask me how I know. I agree with 68LT1camaro, there are very good AFR heads that can make power. The 215's will also be expensive in the end.

If you need advice on converting WICKED heads to work on an LT1, N20 Dave is the man to talk to. Luckily, he stopped in and posted in your thread.

Just understand that big heads and solid rollers = rpm's which = spending money on the correct bottem end and valvetrain parts to make everything live. With that said, if your going to do it, do it right. I like the brodix 18x heads that have 18 degree architechture but use 23 degree valvetrain parts. They can flow up in the 320 range. Whether you use a big AFR designed for reverse cooling or a standard sbc head, you'll need to spend the same money on the other parts to make it work. The conversion itself only adds about $400 to the total.
