Default problem with headers?

i was planning on getting the pacesetter LT's with the matching ORY but my bud stopped me and said that they (headers) would give me more problems than their worth, he said they would be a pain to maintain with leaks, get less gas mileage and it would rob tourqe, he suggested just stickin with the stock manifold so i dont kno if i should get them now.

your friend ison crack. the only reason lt's, or any headers for that matter, would drop your gas mileae would be because you had a heavy foot. aftermarket headers help gas mileage, not hurt it. as for leaks, if theyre installed correctly (which its hard to not install them correctly) you souldnt have any problems. theres a gain in torque and hp across the board.

Actually headers will give you better spark plug access over the stock manifolds.

Clean up the engine bay.

Usually lighter then stock manifolds.

They're a nice compliment to any mods you do there after.

Get a good header gasket such as the Felpro 1706, and good locking header bolts such as the Breslin's from summit, and you'll be leak free.

Most people tend to think headers are going to cause leaks because those fools, like my brother, forget to do one thing; retorque header bolts after heat cycles. If you have access to your header bolts locking bolts aren't necessary. I'm using Earl's Pressure Master Reusable gaskets and a set of 12pt 5/16" head ARP bolts. I've retorqued them for a few heat cycles and 4 months later they're leak free.

Heck I'm even missing one bolt on the rear most primary on the drv's side because the stock one sheered off in the head and it's been leak free since installation (verified by BLM count and seafoam test )

I would definetly recommend them, but your friend is kind of right, you might have some leaks, and they will be a pain to install. But... they are definetly worth the trouble.

Your engines nothing more than a 350ci "air-pump". The more air the engine can easily pull in & push out, the more "efficent" it'll be. And as an example, grab a straw and start huffing & puffing..........Then you'll be glad you dropped in the LT's.
