Default Need some suggestions...

I have 106,000 on my T/A. I dont want to go nuts with the motor. It's been kept up really good from what I see so far, and read from the carfax report. It's going under the lift over the weekend to get a full run through. I want to just go with quick free mods, and a few inexpensive things. Throttle body, CAI, and a catback. The car is one of the smoothest riding T/A's I've ever been in. Everything is nice and tight, shifting included. I'm not one to beat the **** out of a car constantly, but if I wanna go out and have a little fun with this car, are my original tranny and motor gonna hold up to it?

If you really want to get a good indication of the internal wear, do a leakdown test on each cylinder. You want a slow leakdown rate, and you want all the cylinders to be within about 10% of each other. With a cheap mechanics stethoscope, like $20, you can check to see where the air is likely coming out and that's another good indicator.

If you don't want to do that, and it's not smoking under acceleration, I say go for it!

It's a 350 you can bet if the car is in that good of overall condition the engine and trans are fine. The engine can take whatever you throw at it. Just keep it under 6500. Under normal driving the trans will make a 150-175 possibly but even at 100k the clutches are getting thin and seals are hardening. The engine is good for well over 200k mechanically as long as you take care of it all except the optispark and water pump that is..

Oh yeah, I can tell thats already been changed. Got the carfax report. First owner had it from 93-00 only put 30,000 on it. Had to be babied for that period at least.

Can't really assume that - they might have been 30,000 miles at 1/4 mile at a time!

Without checking you are only guessing.

my 94 had 117k HARD HARD Miles. I took good care of it, but drove it very hard. I tore it down when I did my cam change expecting to find alot of wear, but it was like new inside. The tranny is a diffrent story...... rebuilt around 80k...and now needs another rebuild @ 119k
