Default Cam selection??

I'm thinking about installing the Comp 306 cam but not for sure if I can get away using my stock converter and rear gears (3.23) If I have to change the converter I want to be conservative because of gas $$. Of course a loose converter will use alot of gas so I want to get by with as little stall as I can. Any thought would be appreciated. Thanks.

3.23's and as little stall as possible don't mix with a CC306. A lockup converter would be your best choice AND have a cam with a small overlap that matches your gears and converter choice if you want the car to be quick.

Doesn't my car already have a lockup?? To be honest I love the idle sound of the 306, what would I have to do to run that cam??

I know tewo guys that overcammed LT1s and ended up unhappy one used that cam and had 4.10s with a M6. To run that cam well you are probably looking at 3.73s and 3000+stall. In my formerly daily driver I have a ZZ3 cam 3.42s and a 2800 stall and now that it is not the daily driver I am going more gear, granted my car is heavier but the duration on this cam is only 208/221. Want a "cammed idle" go with something that matches how you want your drivetrain setup and then discuss the idle with your tuner. If he sets it a little low and with a little timing work you can make a little cam sound mean.

What about the LT4 Hot Cam?? I was told I could get away using my stock converter and gears with that setup. Is that possible and does that cam have a noticible idle?? Thanks

yeah you can get away with the stock verter with that cam, and it sounds good. Not as loopy as the 306 but still good.
