Default LT1 question.

OK, I did find a number on the block other than 327 and the 5.7 350 (and random letters). Its an 8 digit number on the right of the block in the front, near the heads. The reason I couldn't find it before, is because it had all kind of dirt and grime covering it. ANYWAYS!!! We ran the 8 digit serial number, and it pulled my block up as a "Caprice" block. . .and not an F-bod.

I took it to one of my friends that owns a parts store, and upon further inspection. . .he claims that I have alluminun heads. Now, he said he could be wrong. . .but he thinks the Caprice heads weren't alluminun. I know that I bought this car from a StateTrooper. . .that had recently "semi-rebuilt" it. I fingure he might have dropped in one of the Caprice engines in my Trans-Am. I don't know if they modified the Police Interceptor engines, or what exactly they have different than the "General Public".

My questions are:
"Did I have a modified engine of somesort. . .?"

Do Caprice LT1s have allumimun heads?

AND if I get another "Caprice longblock" would it be any different in performance? They are more expensive than the rest of the LT1s (I was told).

Thanks in advance. I would like to get some info. before Monday.
