Default Just another "What do ya think"

I've been looking around to see if anyone is running something close to what I've put together but haven't been able to find a close combination to compare in hopes of knowing what to expect at the track. The car will be mostly street driven but I will be running it at a few San Antonio-F Body events. I'm dropping it in the car tomorrow. So...... what kind of times should I expect. I'm hopeing for 11.8s N/A. Will likely add a 100 shot sometime soon after the engine is broken in. Chime in and give me your .02.

Hopefully you'll get there...why's the cam smallish, is it a custom cam, I know my custom cam is a lot bigger, also the CR is on the low side, and your stall is mild. Good luck getting there.

The cam is a custom grind from Comp and the duriation is by comparison on the small side. The duration is still good to around 6K rpm. It should pull hard to that point. The converter is what I asked John Cameron to build for me. The rule of thumb on the converter with a street application in mind is you need 3000 useable RPM above your chosen stall speed. With the cam duration in mind, 3000 stall had to be the choice. The idea of this engine was to build it for what the LT1 is known for, which is torque. Please keep in mind that this is a street engine. Its my daily driver. I have another block that I have plans on using for a 396 project next year. I will be looking for another body to drop it into and use it for the track only. That combination will be the 396 with ported AFR 210s on a 250 shot with a TH400 and a 12 bolt with 4.10s. I'll talk to the guys at Comp for the cam. Was just wondering what my combination for my daily driver would be good for. I know it will be "quick enough" for the the street but again, just wondering............

I am running a 396 LT1 in my 94...I agree with sssalah that you might want to run more compression. I am at 12.1:1 on pump gas. On the cam note what are your plans for the car. Daily driver with some track or street legal race car. I am running a 218/222 .544/.538 110lsa with heads that flow similar to yours and made 422rwhp/447rwtq (na) and 566/604 on 150 (nx) . When that cam was picked it was a daily driver. I am also running a "mild" 3200rpm Goebel convertor.

How are you setting up your tranny to handle the power?

I see no reason you should not hit mid to high 11's NA with your combo.

The car will be 95% street driven. You made good power with a smaller cam than the one I've chosen so hapefully my numbers will be similar. The tranny is a 4L60E. I built it. The parts list for it is a Transgo 4L60E-HD2. Got a little advice from Pro Built on the seperator plate hole sizes. Transgo Vaccum mod. The Beast sunshell. Alto nine plate 3-4 clutch pack. Set the clearance @ .035. Kevlar band with a new drum. NoYOYO 5500 rpm+plus kit. 13 vane upgrade on the pump along with a few other goodies. What kind of times do you run N/A?

I will let you know what the car runs as soon as I get it to the track?

It went 12.2 @ 115 (1.8) at SAR in horrible weather (100 degrees and 90% humidity) and a tranny that would not shift into 3rd under WOT. Tranny issues are fixed now, but have not been back.
