Default porting stock TB

When your porting the stock tb do u actually increase the size of the TB? From what im getting out of it is that unless you buy larger butterflies then u cannot increase the size of the holes. Is the gain just from smoothing out the ridges and making the outside/back of TB bigger? Any place i could buy larger butterflies to actually make my TB bigger? thanks

I would think unless you're a good machinest I wouldn't attempt to port the TB myself. There are Two people I recommend for rebored (ported) stock TB. One of them is a seller on ebay. his ebay name is mjblum. I'm not sure if he has any for sale right now as he just got done doing a GP for us b-body guys over on the Impyssforum, but he does top knotch work. On the plus side he's good buddies with my powdercoater, and if you want (for Extra $$$ of course) you can have the TB powdercoated.

The other guy I recommend is David Koldos. He did mine and it came out great. If I had known about Matt I would have had him do mine so I could have had a Pced TB

I do think the biggest a stock TB can be bored is 52mm or at least that's the biggest I've seen advertised. As for gains I'm not sure cause I've never had the car on a dyno, and the TB was done shortly after I got my torque Converter put in.
