what cam for '96 LT1 6-speed?

my friend has a 96 z28 6-speed. and is thinking about a cam/spring swap... do any of you LT1 guys what a good real streetable cam/springs would be for his car with a little lope??? also I dont know, do LT1's have tuning available like the LS1's??? just trying to help out a friend... he ran a 14.1 with a borla exhaust...

Yes tuning is available either through LT1 Edit or places like PCMforless.com

I'd recommend the Comp XE 224/230 for an otherwise stock LT1. Going to want some longtubes with that though.

I just got done puting in a GM847. It's not exactly the pinnacle of streetable cams but it sounds great.

If you're picking a cam for the sound, you're installing a cam for the wrong reasons.

I agree with Chris's post. XE 224/230 gets great results with stock unported castings.

that depends on a lot of things. most importantly, if you're looking for numbers, auto or 6 speed? if auto, size of converter? longtubes/shorties/manifolds? it depends solely on the cam you choose too. you can make anywhere from 290-350+ rwhp depending on the setup.
