Me vs. this Mustang?
Me vs. this Mustang? 99 GT with X pipe with cats, 5 spd. and chip, vs. mine with headers, cai, all that stuff. I ran a 13.4. Don't those Mustangs run like a 14.1 stock? He said he has a "starters" suspension. I call BS. This kid won't stop bothering my gf and claims his car is faster than mine. I am like 900% my car is faster than his.
well as long as you can get traction you'll surely win. Those Mustangs do have an advantage on the street because they don't make a lot of low end torque so even with a regular street tire (say an all season KDWS) they can hook fairly well.

If your worried about spinning, race him from a roll. If he won't agree to that, switch the situation around and make it seem like he is afraid to race you. I think it's weird he wants to race you so bad. Are you sure that is all he has done to it? Seriously, if you have more mods, hands down you should beat him pretty good. Especially up top. I have driven a lot of GT's and a friend of mine has one. (5-speeds) It's pretty quick and "buffman" is right, he has stock tires on it and the car doesn't spin much at all off the line. You would beat him worse at the track, I would suggest going there if you can. I would find it very hard to believe a stock GT with exhaust running anywhere close to a 13.4...A 13.8 maybe, but that would be damn good driving.
not possible you got him for sure my friend had a 1999 Gt with some work he was running a 14.0 and hes not a bad driver(now he has a supercharger and hes running 12.9)

Gonna be close i drove a 04 gt 2k miles on it to a 13.9. You being a auto and him being 5 speed racing him from a roll is gonna make it worse for you. You have the advantage from a dig you are not gonna miss a shift, he may make him nervous.

or it could be a beat mustang like my friends 03 GT with short throw, drop in K&N and nothing but cats. He's ran a best so far in some pretty low DAs @ 14.2. Then again his 2.2 60ft times aren't anything to be proud of.

Yeah, what is this stuff about your g/f? Did they used to date or something? That's not cool that he is talking or "bothering" your g/f about something so stupid. I think we kind of need to know more about what's going on with him and your g/f, in order to judge what's happening here...I personally think you will pull the GT up top with your mods. If you trap about 103+, which is what I think you said in another post, you should have no problem. A stock GT with exhaust barely gets to 100 in the quarter. The quickest stock GT I have seen run in the quarter, trapped 100mph. That GT dynoed 238Rwhp (stock). That is really good for them. They usually dyno about 220-230.
The story is so stupid, it really is. I've been dating my GF for almost 2 years. This kid used to be friends with her during like freshman year and ****, which she is now a senior. This kid moved I guess, and all of a sudden found her on myspace and was like I have always liked you blah blah, I'm gonna come back to Maryland so you can choose me over your boyfriend blah blah. He's like my Mustang will beat whatever piece of **** this kids got. Supposedly this dude bought her like over 1,000 dollars worth of gifts to give to her when he comes up here or something, it's lame. I just wanna race him, but mmy GF probably won't let me
