Default LT1 Blower results

We just got finished with a painstaking project but it looks to be a great result. The car a 97 transam Force Fed High Performance built 383 stroker motor. Revs like a Nascar with a ATI basic kit making 8lbs. through a turbo 400 trans loose converter and a Moser 12 bolt car put down 463.5 hp @4800rpm and 612 tq@3700 rpm. This car pulls hard as hell. If it had some suspension and traction I would love to see the car at the track. Should make 12lbs but with the stock blowoff valve and pipes it just won't alow it.

Well you loose a ton of hp through the 400 and 12 bolt. But this car is fast. They are stock LT1 heads ported and polished from FFHP the cam is a custom crind from Comp not too big I do not remember the exact specs.

Did the car make peak Hp at 4800 or did you just rev to that point. I would think you would see at least 6200 RPM (not knowing your full specs) The Turbo 400 and 12-bolt are eating up alot of Power but pretty good numbers. A friend of mine makes 526RWHP with 8 pounds of boost on a Forged 355 with Stock LT1 heads and a 224/236 blower cam with full boltons with a M6 though.

1) it cant be that loose of a convertor if the tq reading was picked up at 3700 rpms

2) was that a tq or converter spike? centrifugal blowers dont make big torque, esp lower in the rpm band right? simply b/c they dont make much boost or blower rpm.

3) totally agree on the loosing power through a TH400. i have a similar combo but on a bigger blower on my LT1.

Im not a performance expert so i was just curious to how a car loses hp through a 12 bolt rear.

I am guessing because the components of the 12 bolt are physically beefier (weigh more) than that of a 10bolt, so it takes a little more power to move them...

What he said, the increased mass of a 12 bolt or 9 in, over a 10 bolt (7.5 in) means theres more inertia, in the end that equates to a loss of power to the wheels.

Even with a TH400 and 12 bolt, that hp is still quite low. And it definitley should not peak at 4800. A stock motor peaks higher than that. Are you sure you are actually seeing 8 #'s?
