Default compression test

tried searching and didn't really find what i was looking for.

i finally got my motor onto the engine stand and plan to do a comrpession test in the next few days. and i'm curious what kind of numbers to expect, what numbers have yall gotten? its a 95 alum. head with 90k miles. this will basicly determine alot of the timeline of my my project(rebuild).

thanks guys

180-200 psi with the throttle blades open is pretty normal. Really all you're looking for is for the numbers to be consistent from cyl to cyl. If they are all 160 I still say its fine, but if they are all 160 and one is 110 then you probably have a problem.

ok, not sure if this is even going to work. the motor is not just sitting in a vehicle running right now. it is complete sittin on an engine stand, so i was gonna hook my battery to the starter and see if i can get it to turn over a couple times. been told this should work, but don't know if i should leave the other 7 plugs in, or take them all out and just screw in the tester into the 1 i am testing.

Might as well leave them out dude, they're not going to affect the test on the 1 cylinder.

Well the plugs don't really matter as long as all variables are the same for all cylinders. Might be why mine were somewhat low when I did it.
