Default Basic LT1 questions

I know about the LS1s, but I've always really wanted an LT1. Have a few questions about them:

1. Are the Corvette and F-body HP/TQ ratings accurate? Is there really a HP difference between them, and if there is, what makes the difference?

2. Do the WS6/SS cars really add the HP/TQ that they claim, or are they basically the same like the LS1 versions?

3. What exactly changed from the LT1 in the LT4?

4. Do the LT4s make torque really down low like the LT1s?

5. What are the strong points/ weak points about the LT1 (pros and cons)?

All cars with the same motor genrally make the same tq. SS WS6 = better gears and sometimes better suspension. The lt4 has different heads and a different intake, and yes they make more tq then the lt1. The strong points are the lt1 has a lot of tq and gets you moving fast but with out mods you feel the power start to fall of around 80.

1. Yes they are accurate or a touch underrated. Not really much difference between vette and fbody, usually the changes are given to some small intake or exhuast difference

2. Again intake/exhuast differences are what they usually base their "increases" on

3. LT4 blocks had 4 bolt mains (all vettes also had 4, fbody 2). LT4 heads flow better, the LT4 intake manifold is larger to accomodate the heads intake port, and there is a bigger cam/ stronger springs. Everything that bolts to one, bolts to the other.

4. LT4 will make more power than LT1 throughout powerband stock to stock bc it basically is an LT1 withn more heads/cam

5. Weak points of an LT1 car are 10 bolts and optispark distributors. Lt1s are pretty solid even in 2 bolt form, ofcourse hypereutetic pistons and the rods are suspect with power adders or high hp, same as an LS1,but they can take alot. Some people get intake manifold leaks in the rear, and stock clutches and stock auto trannys arent great but...
