Default 6 speed vibration

I just had 4:10 gears a Eaton posi, and a spec stage 2 clutch put in my car. Now i have a problem with the tranny i believe. When I accelerate past 75mile per hour in 5th and 6th gear. I get a really strong vibration comming from the tranny. Also i get a similar vibration comming out os 1st gear occationaly. Is my tranny going out or what?

Your drive shaft may be out of balance.

definately check your u-joints and also double check your pinion bearing wasn't over tightened. both will cause a nasty vibration.

The u-joints are new and the pinion gear was tight when they first looked at it so i know my shop wouldnt over tightin it again. So maybe it is the DS. I s there a chance that it is my tranny? I mean how do u useually tell when the M6's go out? I had a 95 z w/ A4. And tranny would slip when it was going out, but wouldnt vibrate.

It's probably your ds. Same thing happened to me after my gear swap, since at cruising speeds the ds is turning faster. When my tranny went out, it would pop out of gears, and sometimes not let me select certain gears, 3rd, 5th, and reverse. I would find a friend with and LS1 car (cuz lt1's have notoriously bad driveshafts) and swap it out, just to be sure before you go drop the money on a new one.

Well the tranny never pops out of gears, and i have never had it not let me select a gear. So its sounding more and more like a drive shaft problem. CAn you tell by looking at the DS after it is removed, if it is bad or not?

I had the exact same problem. If it's stock steel, buy an aluminnum one. It was like driving a new car when I put mine in.

yea i just had a SPEC stage 2+ clutch put into mine and i had the transmission rebuilt about a week ago and mine does the same thing. i talked to the mechanic about putting a aluminium DS in and he said that they see more LT1's with aluminium DS come in that have just have been twisted apart....anybody know if that is true? they told me that the best thing to do was to just keep the one i have now in.

Naw. I broke my tailshaft and twisted my u-joint at the track but the D/S is ok. It's a Lingenfilter aluminum.

I'm not sure what grade of aluminum it is. Put it this way, like I said before, broke my tailshaft and twisted my u joint and the shaft is ok. One of my friends last week twisted his steel driveshaft just driving. He obviously had a bad u joint before that but point is with good inspection and good parts you can do ok. I would not hesitate to buy another aluminum one. Pick up LS1 shafts on Ebay for a decent deal.

take the drive shaft off and rotated it 180 degree and put it back on.

the shop might not of put it back on the same way it came off.

that fixed mine
