Vibration Under WOT

I took my car out for a drive last night and I noticed steering wheel/front end vibration when I went WOT, starting at about 65 MPH. It didn't vibrate before then at all but after 65 it vibrates alot. I'm thinking it is my tires because when I first bought the car back it still had the stock wheels on it and I took it 145 with no problems. But then I bought this guy's stock '98 Vette wheels with very worn tires on them. The front tires are Good Years and the rear are Nitto 555s. I also eplaced a steering line a while back but I made sure that the steering fluid level was okay, turned the wheel side to side, etc. Could worn tires cause this kind of vibration/instability at higher speeds? I also noticed that the steering wheel jumps around a little on bumpy roads too, more than it ever did with the stock wheels.

do you have a polyurithane tranny mount?

I doubt it, its all stock as far as suspension and drivetrain components go. I'm just wondering if new, good tires would make a difference or not.

Worn tires could make a difference. Also, your Vette wheels are bigger and wider than your stockers. That's why your wheel jumps around a little bit. Baer makes a Tracker kit that's supposed to help with that. It's a bit pricey though.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll buy some new tires pretty soon so hopefully they'll stop the vibration.

I have the exact same problem with my ZR1's and new tires. It only occurs between like 60-65 or so but yea it must be the tire width or something because it was fine with stock rims.
