Default Lt1 Valvetrain noise

I got a 1996 z28 and I just recently noticed a noise coming from the valvetrain. I would not consider it ticking or knocking but kind of like a rattling tick. If I snap the throttle like three times quickly and let the rpms drop I hear it, also if I open the throttle slowly it will do it prolly from 1000 to 1500 rpms and kind of die away if I keep accelarating. I do not think it is a lifter but maybe a loose rocker because the noise sounds like it is coming from the top of the motor, like the valve cover. Would a bent push rod do this if i rev'd to high, and could the rockers just have loosened up or worse? Are my stock rockers adjustable or non-adjustable? I heard that you dont have to go through the great task of setting valve lash but rather just torquing them all to the same and being done with it, but I do not know. What is the proper procedure I am going to have to do, to tighten the rockers right? Please help, thanks.

Also, I just threw a P0300 (multiple/random cylinder misfire) could this problem have caused a slight miss because I have done the opti, plugs, wires, and ICM?

Are you sure its coming from the valvetrain? Often times people mistake an exhaust leak around the manifolds as a ticking lifter. If it IS indeed from the valvetrain it could be a lifter or a loose rocker arm like you indicated.

As far as setting the valves, only the LT4 engines had rockers that you could torque to 20 lb/ft to set the valves. With the standard ball fulcrum rockers on the LT1, just zero the lash then tighten the nut down an extra half turn.

are you sure its not coming from the egr valve? when its cold out you can hear it for a few minutes until the motor warms up a bit.

I have had good sucess using non-running adjustment. Tighten the nut till the pushrod has no vertical slop left this is zero lash, then tighten an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
