Default New LT1 owner, loose steering...

Just bought a 96 WS6 daily driver/project car.

The steering has play in it, you know, cruizing strait, and I can move the steering wheel many inches both ways without any output. How can I get a tighter feel?

This is my first LT1, as I went strait from a TPI to an LS1. Any suggestions?

Usually the steering shaft rag joint. Have someone sit in the car and turn the wheel w/ it unlocked. Look in driver side at the steering shaft and the joint is in the shaft. That is usually the culprit.

-I agree with Turbo_6. This could possibly be an issue with the rag joint. However, if you're getting several inches of play in either direction, you might have more serious issues at play. At very least, check to make sure the intermediate steering shaft is bolted on tight.

I'd recommend the "Rag-Joint Eliminator" from Unbalanced Engineering. It helped out quite a bit on my car:

I'm liking the eliminator idea... thanks.
