Default Some LT1 problems resolved

Came up with a P0400 code for EGR performance and a P0300 code for misfire. Upon further investigation I had a bad EGR valve and EGR solenoid. I replaced both of them but I'm still getting the SES light. I'm thinking it's because there is no back pressure in my exhaust to help the valve work. Oh, well. The misfire is coming from my #5 spark plug wire. Seems to be arching through the damn heat sleeve. I'm so tired of dealing with these stupid spark plug wires. No matter how I route them or what I do to help keep heat off them, one of the little f'ers always melts on me. I need some suggestions to help keep my wires away from my headers.

P0400 happens to lots of cars with headers, and you're right, its because there's not enough back pressure on the EGR valve to get good flow up the little EGR pipe.

Best way to eliminate plug wire problems IMO is to go with over-the-valve-cover setup and do your own custom-length wires.

I have the over the valve cover setup. How long does it take to change out the wires? If they're going to fry every six months, I might as well save some money and do it myself. I think I'll go with the $120 Taylor set this time instead of the $60 set.

I've also heard of a tape you can wrap your headers with--to help keep the heat in the exhaust? If so, would I have to remove my headers to wrap the tape around them?

I used a little heat tape around one or two wires and have not had problems.
