lt1 questions
2 I was considering swapping my lt4 intake for a carbed style and keeping injection has any one done this and where there improvements or was it a waste of time.
I am aslo selling my brand new installed and fired but never ran down the track delteq ignition setup evreything included.
The answer to question 2 is yes. My new motor is a carb'd style victor jr type manifold from Accel setup for EFI with 1/2" fuel rails and bungs welded into the runners for 83lb/hr injectors.... To answer your question about whether or not it's a waste of time, that really depends. how much power do you plan on making? If you're installing BS3 I'd imagine your setup is pretty stout so a carb'd manifold is a matter of choice. The LT1/4 manifold AFAIK doesn't really like huge RPM and tends to drop power quite noticeably past like 6700 rpms or shortly after.... That manifold just won't support the kind of airflow you need if you're running a big set of heads (AFR 220's 227's or raised runner 215's...)
So if your setup warrants big power at big RPM then you will probably need to look into running a carb'd setup plumbed for EFI. Most of the fastest guys with LT1 bottom halfs are all running large AFR heads like above and carb'd manifolds with accufab type throttle bodies... There are guys that are hauling *** with LT1 manifolds but it's a matter of choice. They could probably lose a few tenths if they switched but some choose not to...
