Default Long Tubes or Converter ???

I Have a 97 Z/28 a-4 with 373's, electric waterpump, Borla catback opened, and a 75 shot. I was wondering where you guys think I could find my best gain. My times right now are 12.70 to 12.83 @ 109 to 110 mph. I am also using bfg dr.'s with a 60' best of 1.935 My goal is break 11.99 with minimal mods. Any help appreciated.

Long tubes would definitely compliment the NOS you are running, but the converter. I think the converter would help you more though. I was running 1.9's with a similar set up and hit 1.6's after the SS3600 install. Neither the headers or converter will get you to 11.99 by itself...well I seriously doubt it. Being able to rip off the line 3 tenths quicker in the first 60ft is worth more than the hp increase the headers will give you.

I am planning on running at a different track this year due to the lack of prep at where I usually run plus most people that I have spoken with who have ran at both tracks say that they gain 3 to 5 tenths compared to where i have ran. So 3 tenths or so would be great.

You would see the best gains with a Converter, but your going in the opposite order of most. Most people do full exhaust, including LT's. To compliment the bigger mods, such as a Stall. You will see much more with Headers+Stall. But if your dead set on one or the other, I would check out FuddleRacing for a stall, Vig, Yank etc. Also make good converters, but Fuddles products are amazing. Most will agree, and espically for the pricetag, reputation, and warranty. FuddleRacing.com (for the record, I'm not being paid to advertise, just giving advice on a company I trust.)

I agree with Renagade a converter will give you a better boost in the quarter than LTs with a stock engine! But headers are a base for further mods!

I had shorties on my car and then did a 3200 vig converter, at at the track it felt lacking topend, I barely broke into the 12's. I just switched over to hooker long tubes and don't have any track times yet, but the car feels -SO- much better top end. I'd do a full exhaust first, then converter, but at first you will see more gain from a converter.

I'd get a converter myself. 3000-3500 rpm stall would be the best. Vigalantie or TCI. You can always get the Long Tube later.
