so i raced an 05 GT...
so i raced an 05 GT... me and a friend of mine were cruising around a feeder road, when i passed an 05 GT, long story short, we got into a 45 mph roll, and he was 1/2 a car ahead before the hit, and i took the jump and he hit it simultaniously, and i ended up with a good 1/2 car on him at 90-100... second time around, we start off at a lower speed... maybe 30-35... i give him 3 honks and we take off and i pull about a car on him, top of second, i held on a bit too long, maybe to 5900rpm and proceeded to pull him... then my friend noticed a wierd smell... i pulled in and sure enough, i smelled a sort of oil/electric smoking smell.. turned off the car... and popped the hood, and there was smoke coming from the back of my left valve cover (left as in looking at the engine, standing infront of it)... but the car ran fine... just smoked and smelled... so i took it home, no problem.. i took my dad's car out to go party or whatever... and i return to find it start up just fine, no smoke, no smell...
any ideas on what's wrong?

When the engine cools down...run your hand around back there.
Could be that the valve cover isn't sealing well but it is more likely the notorious intake leak.
