Default Car died...Need some helpful info.

My car died on me while driving. I was stopped at a light and felt the car missing. It did make it for another mile or so and then completely died. I tried turning it back on, and it did but it hesitated badly. Also it would not rev or move when in gear. I have noticed a different smell coming from the car after I had the transmission fluid change. I went to the synthetic (Mobil 1) from the conventional fluid that the first mechanic put in when I had the shift kit and TC put in. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Thank You.
