If your trying to have two step & timing retard that is very easy to accomplish with the DELTEQ system. It requires a MSD's DIS4 & 4 coil interrupt modules. You can also add the MSD DIS Red Twin tower coils to the DELTEQ setup for a complete bullet-proof setup. Overall, DELTEQ's setup with the MSD stuff will cost a little more than a LTCC with 8 MSD red coils and mounting brackets, but I feel they are both excellent products to accomplish solving a long standing LT1 problem.

Delteq system $640
(includes wires)
MSD 2 tower red coils (4)
MSD DIS4 $450 (timing retard & two step)
MSD coil interrupts (4) $120
(included)
Total: $1370

LTCC $400
Taylor wires (suggested) $70
MSD LS1 red coils (8) $580
LTCC does timing retard & two step
LTCC does not need coil inter-rupt modules
LTCC coil brackets $70 ??
Total: $1120

In an effort to make things comparable I have shown the Delteq system with the additional parts for timing retard & two step. I also have shown both systems as if they were done with money no object to get all the best parts and compare on an equal setting. I'm sure both system could be done for much less, but overall I feel both setups are comparable. If your going bare bones and need the two step & timing retard the LTCC can be done for less money.

Hope this helps, 95 T/A beast has some excellent pics of the DELTEQ setup, as well as myself. I'm sure there will be some great pics of the LTCC to come soon from FATAL LT1.

Here's mine (not completely finished yet. Still installing the MSD DIS4 and the (4) inter-rupt modules)

Elitesparkplugs.com sells them for $600 also you can get custom wires like the ones in your pictures

So, with either of these systems, would I be able ot finally wash down my engine without worrying about getting the opti wet? Same thing goes for worrying about if my waterpump failed, etc... the real pita things about the opti. Are these issues solved by doing this?

after going over all the options and coming very close to getting the LTCC I went with the Delteq.

Break Down
NIB Norstar/Aurora Coil pack..................................$134.99 (e-bay constant sale)
Delteq #1032 RADIATOR mounted system..................$349.99 (Pace Performance)
Delteq #4000 Billet Opti cover.................................$95.95 (Pace Performance)
Delteq #5012 Wire set...........................................$44. 25 (Delteq need special set for headers)

Basic Total $625.18 to be back up and running again. It is finding a decent DIS-4 at a fiar price that is killing me! they went up $100 in the last year! Maybe I can get some return from MSD for my dead cap and rotor....we will see!

It depends if you wanna put in the work or not. Since you don't need the cap and rotor section of the Opti for either setup, if you'll do the labor required to pull the Opti off the motor you can take the cap off and seal the crap out of it with RTV. (Or your sealant of choice.) If you don't mind dropping $100, you can buy a fancy polished billet cover from Delteq that allows you to eliminate the cap altogether. Something else that is worth doing if you go this far is to take the rotor out of the Opti and cut the "wings" off so that if you do mods that require more RPM's in the future, you won't have to worry about it exploding from revving the engine too high.

Anyone have any before and after power and gas mileage results? I saw one person in this post some data. I was hoping to see more.
I have never had a single problem with my opti, perhaps since I have not used anything but the stock coil. I'd love to be able to pick up a little more power, since I am about done on the power mods for my car.

I run the Delteq radiator mount setup, and it runs great. I did have an ICM die on me last year, and that sucker is expensive! I paid through Dal almost 500 bucks for it. Has anyone delt with or contacted Delteq recently?

As far as I know delteq went under, or the guy who runs it got sick or something...

This is old news though, and something may have changed since then...

I think either is a win win, it just depends on your personal needs. I thought about the LTCC MOUNTED ON THE LOWER PART OF THE RADIATOR SUPPORT with a Delteq fancy cap or just replace the opti w/dynaspark III.

95z28:

I've just gone through that with my LTCC. To change to the LS2 coils, you'll need different coil harness plugs and the wiring in the plugs is reversed. Using the LS2 truck coils with the heatsinks won't work due to a lower RPM timing issue. I currently have them on my car and will be swapping to the current LS2/3 D514A coils in today. Cut, shaped and painted the brackets last night.

Job done. Car runs good, better than it did with the LS1 coils. Go for it, you know you wanna.

Nice plug wires, aye? I made 'em!

It's funny how there's a handful of guys on this site who say the LTCC or Deltec systems have no advantage whatsoever over the stock system yet there's so many of us who've seen real improvements. One guy saw like 4 tenths at the track. Some guys are just stuborn, eh? Good, keep that stock system, check out my hood 'cause all you'll see later is my rear.
