Default newb LT1 question?

It's a bone stock 94 Z. When it's cold, the car runs great, as soon as it warms up the problems start. It starts to cut out and act stupid. On the scanner it shows a code that reads something to the effect of "No crank sensor signal or open circuit". Isn't the crank sensor in the opti? And how can this thing run without a crank signal? Thanks in advance.

The 94Z has no crank sensor.

There's a Hi Res Pulse Input, and a Lo Res Pulse Input. Those are the opti codes. The Opti is a cam based sensor, not a crank sensor.

The code you've described doesn't make sense. You sure about that?

Where you looking those codes up in a F Body specific manual or one of those "Code Books"? There can be a difference in the codes meaning from platform to platform.

The scanner actually says that, maybe I entered a vin number wrong or something, I'll double check that again.
After you drive around at night you can get out and look underneath the hood and the header on cylinders 6 and 8 is glowing red. I have checked fuel pressure, replaced injectors, checked inj. pulse, O2 sensors, checked for vacaum leaks, nothing fixes this problem, any suggestions?

Knee-jerk reaction from me is to check the mass air sensor, and make sure the little wires are clean and silvery, and not black and fuzzy. That can cause issues. If they're dirty, use a q-tip and some electronic cleaner (or brake cleaner) and very lightly clean them... gently...

But that probably wouldn't cause the manifold to glow. Glowing could be retarded timing or running too rich. See if you can get the 'real' code.

As others have said that code makes no sense, what kind of scanner are you using? What # code does it give you?
