Update: You do NOT save 200lbs from glass to lexan. The stuff is called speedglass and is available at "percy's" They have a chart on the site...says stock glass weighs ~100lbs (don't know if this includes rear glass) and their stuff weighs ~30lbs so you save 60lbs. Sounds great but comes with a cost....looks like about $1500. It's supposedly better than lexan and has scratch resistant inner and outer layers so you can run wipers and they don't need support bars.

I thought 200 was kind of high for the rear and two sides. I'm impressed with 60 lbs, hell I could lose 20 myself...make 80 lbs less ...but WOW 1500??? I didn't even know they made the front windshield, in fact didn't think it was legal on a street car. For a state inspection don't they check for a windshield code stating it's safety glass ratings, etc?
Looks like they sell in a kit for $1300. Replaces all glass and saves 64lbs. Is NOT DOT legal so you'd be taking a risk. I'm considering it anyway... After the hefty wheel/tire package, forged iron motor, twin turbos and associated plumbing I don't have many weight reduction options.

Thats crazy horsepower man, good luck, I'll be happy with 570 on motor to the ground no PowerAdders
I don't really understand all this weight loss stuff. According to Consumer Guide 4th gen gm f-bodies are like 3400 lbs, yet some people say thier cars weigh like 3800 after wieght loss. How is that possible? did they start at 4000 or something? And how do people get down to like 3100? it just doesn't seem like there's that much to remove. the rear seats probably weigh 15lbs each and all the other little removals seem equally insignificant to me. So how the hell do they do it? Is there something I'm missing here?
my car is at 3150 with 235# driver, I will be removing more stuff from car and puttin in a lighter driver in 06 (me), I guess my car is going to be about 100#s lighter this year.
Should be interesting if the Clutch/trans holds till I can get the T-braked Th350 in it.
Does anyone know what the lightest Fbody in the country is now? I have been wondering this because i think im going to be that Fbody in about 6 to 8 months. Was wondering if anyone was as light or what the lightest one was?

Man, 570 NA? If you're running anything less than a 427 then you aren't being realistic. Or if lt1 derived;....a 400+ci solid roller. Of course you could be talking on race gas?
How streetable do you want it? You still have the stock hood? If so ditch that for a pin on hood, lot of weight to be saved there. Go over to manual crank windows, ditch the windshield washer tank. Swap hatches if you have the high rise one. Other wise, bumper suports, G-brace, all the heat shields under the car, get rid of the cat back and run bullets. Rip out all the splash gaurds and inner fender wells. If you have a cage ditch the door bars. Rip out all the HVAC stuff including all the stuff in the dash. Rip out the entire radio and sound system in the car. You can ditch the entire dash for a VFN one, save a ton there, VFN door pannels. Also Get some Kirkey race seats in it. Get a light weight after market race wheel. You can really gut the hell out of one of these cars if you want, but its hard to do it and not have the car look like trash in the end.

Theres a couple cars on here right at 3K, they are prety extreme, some dont even have door bars.

Usually the 3800 is with full options, leather, heavy stereo system, amps. Basically a fully loaded car. Realistic being about 3500 for stockers. Check the sticky in the drag racing forum. TONS of weight loss potential. Just have to be willing to sacrifice some comfort.

Good luck my friend. I believe lthomer(not sure) and others in the drag racing forums are running sub 2600lb fbods. INSANE! With my iron motor and twin turbos I'm hoping for 3000!
Well im a crazy **** and everyone knows it, ive been driving around with my car totally stripped out for about a year now. I literally have no dash, i even cut out the plate in the dash. Im going to all speed glass windows and am going to take out the bars in the door soon. I even took off all my power steering and everything on the front of the motor that did not need to be there. Basically im driving around in a metal can with 4 speakers and a cd player. I dont even have a coolant reserve! I was just wondering if there was anything else i could do hehe. 2600 lbs, is this with a really nice aluminum frame? Or an aluminum block? Or stock chassis and stock lt1 iron block? I hope its with stock stuff, i would LOVE to see 2600 lbs as well. I dont care about drivability, i am use to the loud nasty sound of it and i love it. I smoke pretty much anything in my town with it to ;] Ill post pics soon, dont laugh at me though lol

Lexan glass is 50-70% lighter than regular glass. the total of the glass weighed 300 pounds, you would be saving 150-200 pounds. I just dont know how much the rear glass, front glass, and side windows weigh... I'm sure its around there...
Edit: not to mention window cranks or motors 10-15 pounds

From the chart on Percy's the fbod glass weighs ~100lbs total. So weight savings of 64lbs total for full speed glass.
