what HP from LT's?
 

I got my pacestter longtubes and ory this weekend. I hope to get them installed soon. What kind of horsepower gain should I see? Also what kind of power gain can I see from a good tune?

10-15 untuned, with a much bigger pull on the top end.
15-20 with a damn good tune.

I think my estamite is off, but thats generaly what they are.

if you have an auto dont get long tubes, get mid tubes

reason being is the long tubes will set next to your A4 thus giving additional heat and having a problem if you like to stomp on the accelerator

i decided that after 2 master mechanics were teaching me about what heat does to an automatic transmission haha

i would rather give up 15 whp on headers then damaging my A4

Heat will damage more than just the transmission. It will shorten the life of everything in the engine bay. There are ways to get around it--like getting some header wrappers... or not driving around when it's 100+ degrees F. That being said, I've had long tubes in my auto and have experienced no problems with my tranny. However, spark plug wires... that's another story. Oh, and my longtubes don't sit next to my tranny.

Plenty of people have autos with longtubes. If they are installed properly this shouldn't be much of an issue.

Dude that is a huge amount of bullshit, there are a ton of guys running longtubes with an A4 with no problems due to longtubes... gimme a break.

Once you break into the motor and start modifying internally you'll see so much more gains at the topend with longtubes rather than shorties or midlengths.

Will I see much more since I have a Lt4? I have Lt4 head,intake,knock module, hotcam, 1.6rr, etc etc...I have NO tune and only dynoed 297rwhp. I was really hoping a good tune and these LTs would get me closer to 330+rwhp

On my car, dead stock, FLP longtubes and a cutout gained me 27hp and 28ft-lbs to the wheels...that's BEFORE a tune.

you have the whole lt4 kit(over 2 grand) and those are you r #s and with that set up go with LTS you will see a big difference.

Dont get LTs with an A4??? Thats fucking retarted man.

As for the thread, definalty look into getting some longtubes, after making the swap from and open stock y pipe to LTs it was a big big gain up top, but now ive got a little valve float. I would definatly recomend getting Long Tubes, there is no better header unless your using boost.

You'll see alot closer to 330 rwhp with those LTs and a tune. There's also no problem with running LTs and an A4, but if you're really concerned just use heat wrap on the headers.

If anything just wrap the collectors, there the closest to the tranny.

yea I have LT's on my A4 and no problems what so ever here. I heard you gains of about 20-30hp with supporting mods.

I didnt buy the Lt4 kit, I bought the car in December and the LT4 was already done. Thanks for the input guys. Hopefully I can get these installed this coming weekend and then get some time for a tune and dyno later the next week.

If your really worried about the heat use ceramic coated headers.
But I believe its a non issue since the exhaust has to go by the tranny even if you use stock exhaust manifolds. I have had my LTs for more that a year and my ATF temp range has not changed since the install.

Definetly go with LTs, you will NOT be sorry you spent a little extra cash. And if you have to save up money for coating, do it!
