Default LT4 KM made a difference!

I thought I needed it since I put in my longtube headers but after installing the LT4 KM tonight I was surprised how much better the car was running. Much smoother now and it pulls much better even at part throttle. Definitely a mod worth doing! I couldn't look at the knock counts with my cheap Palm scanner setup but it looks like it's holding more total timing now as well.

What i wanna know is how many knock counts is normal and what is high. I have a nice scanner(gennisis) and would like to make sure something is wrong before I fix it.

Glad to see it worked for ya. I was going to buy a lt4 km but i just had the knock sensor desensitized when i had the computer tuned so would that fix any pulled timing that was potentially pulled before it was tuned?

Can someone correct me on this? I remember reading about this mod from waaayyyy back when I was on usenet. From what I understand, the LT4KM definitely did detect less knock, because it was essentially shunted to ground and thus didnt detect *any* knock at all. Any truth to this?
I had this in my `94 Firehawk about 6-8 years ago, and ended up with 4 broken ring lands on a motor with only 25,000 miles.

the total knock count itself is just a number that cycles. it hits a max amount (i forget how much) and then starts over at zero. you get tons and tons of knock counts just from startup and it's not a number that you need to worry about.

look at the knock retard (spark retard) due to knock. that's what matters.

yes the LT4 knock module still detects knock.
