Oil pressure LOW...help
yah it was reading low at 10psi idle which is about 600rpm A4 tranny. But it does rise when I accellerate, the most it may get is over the middle mark so that would be 40-50psi.
Also cold it is idling about over the 40psi mark then it warms to about 185 f ( normal operating ) it is 20psi oil pressure then when ur sitting there letting the car idle it will reach the 200 f mark then the oil will drop to about 10psi. Is it maybe crappy oil thinning out too much?
thanks

I have a similer problem. i bought a sending unit still nothing. then purchased a oil gauge still low pressure at idle. so now i am going to replace the cam gear the runs the oil pump...what a freaking mess
The original sender came out with a socket and swivel because i broke the plastic back part of it (saved alot of time, i suggest trying to break it as long as you make sure to unplug it so you don't f' up the wires) therefore it will allow plenty of room for the socket to reach it. When you put the new one on you will want to make sure that the socket you buy is deep enough to reach, because the one i bought wasnt, and you will have to either go buy the special socket or rip your hands open with a small wrench on it like i did. I believe the socket was a 27mm, so if you can find one thats deep enough to fit over the unit i say go for it....Hope that made sense or helped in some way
My oil pressure began to slowly drop over the last couple of months. Hooked a mechanical gauge up to it and confirmed the gauge and sending unit were operating correctly. After a few cam swaps and 115k on the motor I figure there is wear in the bearings. I just went ahead and put in a high volume pump. I have heard that a high volume can suck the pan dry, but I have had no issues yet. My oil pressure went up as well. It now idles at over halfway mark when warm and at the 3/4 mark while driving. My oil pressure is basically where it was when the engine was new. I know I am probably band-aiding a problem, but a rebuild is in the near future.

alright i found that when i turn my car igition to on position the oil gauge will return to zero mark, but if i turn the key back and take out or leave in whatever, the oil gauge will slowly creep up a bit to the 10psi mark or like 1/8 mark ( half way between the the first 1/4 mark and zero. Is this a sign that the oil sender is screwed? I does'nt stay on the zero mark just creeps up after i turn the key back. Otherwise i want to test the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge but its a pain cause that sender is behind the intake.
thanks for any more help
