Default LT1 engine rebuild kits?

I am posting for my uncle who has 160k+ miles on his 1994 Formula, and was thinking it'd be safer to go ahead and rebuild the motor. He's not looking for insane performance due to him just wanting a fun toy car for the weekends, just something that is low cost, but does the job. So the question is, who sells the best engine rebuild kit for an OBDI LT1 car? Please post a link if possible, and experience with the kit if you have used it before. Thanks.

LT1 and Low cost isnt going to happen. Well, it can but you dont want cheap parts on that lt1. He can build a 355ci just new pistons and keep it all stock(Rods use ARP bolts, Crank get it turned).Or do what me and many other LT1 owners do and go to StrokerKits.com or LE1 package. Dont go cheap just save the damn money and build a good motor. You will be better off with a 396 or 383. O and use the search tool on the page it will help you and your uncle.

Are the miles the only reason you are considering a rebuild?? If so FORGET IT, modern injection, materials, machining all add up to vastly less engine wear than a couple decades ago. The LT1 in my wagon cranked 195-200psi at 180K miles this is the exact same bottomend as the f-body and while not a performance car it does get abuse in the form of a 4672lbs BASE curb weight, 2.93s and a 28" tall tire, that is a lot of load on that motor all the time, still quick enough to shock people at the strip too hoping for 14s this season with minimal mods and full weight.

Wait till it goes before rebuilding, that way you can save a little here and there. Then you should have enough saved to build a badass motor.
