Default running hot

Seemingly overnight my car is warming up to 235 and staying constant. The fans kick on, I have about a six month old waterpump. When you open up the hood it isn't steaming, just hotter than it used to be 180ish. The car drops oil pressure and revs up when it gets 220ish up. What could it be.I don't drive it that much so its not a major concern, but it is hard to take mustangs when you're running 235.

I'm experiencing the same symptoms. Flushing the system and installing a new T-Stat should cure it. If not, you have a clog somewhere.

Just program your fans to come on earlier.

I'm assuming some coolant was changed in august when I got the car and the new water pump. I'm having a new thermostat put in and a flush this weekend. Hopefully the dealer does it right and doesn't leave me with air in the system. I should have my car back by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. I'll post results.

I'm going to pick up my car tonight. I was told it will run to 215 sitting there and everything is working. They said the plugs were fouled like there was a slight miss......they said it could be the bosch plugs in it werent right and are putting in factory replacements....It would only miss when over 215....unless it is missing low enough to where I can't tell. It's not throwing any codes....but now I'm not in danger of blowing ead gaskets running hot.

Oh man chunk those Bosch plugs they are junk. The only thing I can think of is either you suck up some road trash and its on the front of your radiator or the thermostat gave up the ghost.

try bleeding the coolant system with the bleed fitting on your hoses. you might have a little air pocket.

But he said it hasnt been over heating it just started. If he had an airpocket it would have started over heating right after he put new coolant and new water pump in.

I had a misfire (caused by an arching plug wire) that had my car running up to 230+... after I replaced the wire and re-routed it my car runs to about 215... and once the fans kick on its much colder... so I want to cast a vote for the misfire causing the over-heating.

I have a similar problem... I just replace my stock t-stat with a 180. As long as i keep moving, it stays there, but once i stop it doesnt take long at all to start climbing. It will go past 210, and on to 235 until the fans come on.. I am pretty sure I dont have any air in the system, it never did this with the stock thermostat... What should I do, I dont like seeing it g to 220-235.

I got it back Tuesday night there is a big miss.....that they added. when I brought it in it barely missed when it was running hot. It now misses bad, shakes on idle, and revs up after you drive it about 5 miles. I told them they messed it up and they try to deny it. They don't sound like they will be helping me fix it either. They previously told me opti was ok and now they dont know. They said it could be a bad computer shutting down injectors. Nobody knows whats wrong. The guy asked me why i put an opti on it.....wtf...a gm dealer certified guy asked me this....i told him they all came with it....i dont know what to do

program the fans to come on earlier. It's pretty normal to see it go that high on lt1s if you stay still long enough.
