Default CAI Or Ram Air?

Which would I gain more horspower out of?

A CAI or the SS ram air box.

With the SS ram air box it sits right over the intake (which I would assume would soak up some heat)But it is force fed.

But the CAI isnt really force fed but I am sure it wouldnt soak up so much heat.

Which is better do you think?

a ram air intake is not 'force fed', that is a gimmick. Intake air pressure cannot be increased at normal driving speeds. That said it really doesn't matter, either one will make more power. Getting rid of the stock restrictive intake is the important thing.

Stock SS intakes suck on LT1 cars man... They have like 3 90* bends in the intake, and soaks up heat..

My formula gets pretty warm intake temps from the ram air. (sun beating on the hood). But after driving for about 15 to 20 minutes the temps do come down close to ambient temperatures.

ah, didn't know that. I figured it was similar to the ls1 ss (which has a good one).

I made a CAI where the inlet is infront of the front tire. It picks up the air off the road. It's not as hot as the engine compartment, and I did the Throttle Body Bypass. When I get off the highway and put my hand on the Throttle Body, it is cold, real cold. Can't get much better than that...

Actually, the Ram Air effect does in fact push more air into the intake at higher speeds, like in excess of 100MPH. Of course most people don't see those kinds of speeds daily, so under normal conditions, like you said, it is not very functional.

It's actually more like 200 mph before it will be very noticeable, but I suppose it could have a very small effect at slower speeds.

True, at 200MPH it would be very noticeable, definitely good for a few extra ponies

At lower speeds however, its still functional, but you are just very unlikely to feel any significant difference.

Actually its at 70mph that the air velocity in the intake increases with the lt1 WS-6 style ram air. It does not compress the air like the turbos or s/c do, but there is an increase at 70
