LS1 Lid on LT1

Anyone have any pictures and/or write ups on putting a lid on an lt1. Or where are some places i can get a ram air box for the lt1 for cheap. I'd prefer not to spend $300+ on an air box.

Thanks

i heard about on lt1 with a lid dyno 327 hp as a bolt on only car. You must have a ram air hood to do it.

Roadtrip120 comes to mind, it looks really clean, I would do it just so the filter was easier, I hate taking the splash gaurd off to get to my K&N cone filter.

Don't worry, ram air hood will be here soon. Anyone know what is involved in putting one of these on an lt1. Thanks

beautiful car, you don't happen to have a write-up or how to or something. I have seen some other pictures of lt1's using the ls1 radiator shroud. Would that make mounting it any easier.

i have one in my car

its fairly simple, just purchase a ram air box or LS1 air lid, go to homedepot and buy a 4x3 coupler with the clamps, just put the 4 inch one on the throttle body side and the 3 inch one on the MAF *maf end is a little tricky its very snug* then the maf and the lid just slide right on, you can use a clamp to clamp it down but since everything else is so tight that there wont be any air coming out

I hear you. I've never liked my CAI with the filter hanging down in front of the tire. There's always a lot of dirt and small stones in that fender well area even though I have taped the small openings where it looks like the grit gets in.

ive been trying to keep an eye out for the radiator piece on ebay but have been out bid at the last moment on the last 3, im also trying to find someone locally who has supercharged their ls1, and i know theres a couple that are turbo charged here, i really want to do this to mine too

I totally agree. All I need is a better parts list for a clean install and I think I'll do it.

thats what that is.

i agree if your buying the ram air hood, might as well get the air box along with it.

im doing the ls1 lid swap on my camaro. im running a non funtional harwood ram air hood... i had to do some hacking on the ls1 radiator support to get it to fit.

i left my slp intake on also, next time i hit the track i'll do a few runs with each.

Read post 10 and to add to it, I like the overall look. I could care less if I gain anything.

what secures that bottom plastic part?

silverlt1ss 04-25-2006 04:24 PM

i heard a cut down bellow from an iroc-z works well for the ls1 lid swap.

That is not an LS1 intake setup, its a '97 WS6 LT1 setup. To do the LS1 setup, you need the an LS1 radiator support/airbox base and also an LS1 air lid. I am doing my LS1 setup right now and that dang airbox base does not fit nice and flat on the core support like it was supposed to. We had to remove quite a bit of material from the underside of the base to get it to fit better. I need to get a second Fernco 3" to 3" coupler and cut it down so it will fit between the SLP lid and the MAF.

I am going to this setup because my old LT1 WS6 setup would not fit with the LS1 T/A front clip thats going on right now.
