Perhaps the air gap will eliminate some of the heat soak.

I think he meant a widely available, mass produced block.

Not to get off topic too much here, but are you saying a production LT1/LT4 casting can be puched-out to over 450ci? If so, first tell me where I missed out on getting an alloy genII , and then tell me how much compression you can't run (not to mention nitros/fi) with cylider walls that thin. Do some people take genI alloy castings and "LT1ify" them?

I believe the aluminum "LT1" block he's referring to is this Donovan block that was a custom one-off reverse cooling conversion done by the owner:

That would be the one. It's not really a one off because if you pay him he'll make you one too

If it is like all other Edelbrock parts it will be junk, they are still living of past glories of the 60's and 70's. AS for the extreme price of the LT4 I would rather spend the money and get a sheet metal intake made for a little more. I will stick with my LT1 ported intake, ET heads, and CC306 and spray the **** out of the car till it gives up. With the shot I am going to go with it should run like a raped ape.

Sheet metal intake, for just a little more? Replace "a little" with a lot. At least this intake will be middle ground and fill a void. As long as you dont LOSE any power and the price is $300 and below you cant lose and it will only help ltx owners.

They are not to bad really, I am just saying I wouldn't spend 1200 $$ on a P.O.S. LT4 intake. I would just save the green and get the good stuff.
