1.5 or 1.6 rockers

hey just wanted to know whats the better way to go, 1.5 or 1.6 roller rockers, what kind of gains can u see between the two and what kind of idle difference is there between the two, let me know what u guys know or have found from experience, thanks

depends on future plans and if you think there will be an idle difference you are thinking too hard.

I have never heard of any idle difference, then again I have a Cam, so it is completely tuned different. 1.6's will get you appx. 15 rwhp. They are a definate inprovement from the stamped steel rockers, they move alot easier. Actually pivot instead of slide.

im gonna have a cam too, im doing a complete rebuild of my motor, stock rockers are 1.5's right?,but there not roller right?, how much of a gain could i see if i got 1.5 RR'S?

You mean 1.6RR's... appx. 15 rwhp, and a full-roller valve train, which is alot better than the standard Stamped Rockers. You will be able to get higher RPMs and build more power when you are up there over the stock ones. That depends on the Cam also...

With 1.5's, I would say a more stable and easier moving Valve Train. The 1.6's will open up more power capability.

exactly thank you, so would it be worth it to get the 1.5 RR's or should i pay the extra $ to get 1.6's?

so knowbody has noticed a diff. in idle, or more of a lope?

Get the 1.6RR's only if you plan on getting a cam eventually that will support 1.6's.

If you have the clearance than by all means the 1.6RR's. Remember lift is your friend when searching for horsepower.

a lil off topic but does anybody know where u can get valve springs tested so i can make sure there rated to what there supposed to be?

The 1.6 ratio open up the valve usually 30-50 thousandths of an inch more than the 1.5 so its bearly more, it will definitly not affect the sound of your idle, alot of people report a difference in idle because they dont set their valve lash correctly and the poor idle is because of the change in the lash, not the higher lift on the valve.

You can buy the tool from a speed shop and do it your self or go to a machine shop and see if they have the tool, its called a valve spring tension or pressure tester or if you are looking to see how much the valve goes down then you need a valve spring height micrometer
