ARP head bolts torque specs?

ARP head bolts torque specs? i looked up in my chiltons book and it said 65ft/lbs. i have a buddy that told me that arp might have a different torque spec? is this true and if so what is it? or should i just go with the stock specs? thanks for any and all help!!

I went 65 ft-lbs on mine.
And this is the thread sealant you want... Permatex Hi-Temp . I love the smell of that stuff.
I spread it like peanut butter on everything... 
That sealant, and Permatex Ultra Black, are 2 things I buy *every* time I go to the parts store.

Only other 'trick' is to put ARP assembly lube (their moly grease) under the heads / on the shoulder of the bolts so the bolt to washer interface is well lubed.

Verdad Gallardo Those are LT4 valve covers with MBA billet inserts and screwcaps (stock covers didn't fit well with the Comp HiTech rockers). Mildly ported LT1 castings (~254 cfm @ .550). I'm building a 383 street motor, nothing outrageous. Mild cam (230/236), mild stall (3100-ish), with cat and all that. Not going for any big numbers, just something with some torque to get the 3900 lb sled up and moving.

thats what the machine shop told me to do on arp head bolts. they machine and build engines all day everyday for a living, so im just doing as im told by professionals

I wouldnt recommend that one thread sealer,mainly beacuse you want to use one that one harden up on you. All you are doing is sealing it from the water going through the gasket to the water jackets.

where can i get them from, its that that I need to go big with my 1.6rr's but My OEM 12 year old valve covers are not in the best shape ever.

And I guess you can ignore the whole "OEM specified for use on head bolts" reference on the Permatex page. I use it with no problems.And yep, you can get the LT4 valve covers from the GM dealer, and hopefully find the inserts at Thunder. I am missing one of the caps for the valve cover bolts (got lost sometime ago), may need to try to dig up another one.
