thats what the machine shop told me to do on arp head bolts. they machine and build engines all day everyday for a living, so im just doing as im told by professionals

I wouldnt recommend that one thread sealer,mainly beacuse you want to use one that one harden up on you. All you are doing is sealing it from the water going through the gasket to the water jackets.

where can i get them from, its that that I need to go big with my 1.6rr's but My OEM 12 year old valve covers are not in the best shape ever.
And I guess you can ignore the whole "OEM specified for use on head bolts" reference on the Permatex page.
I use it with no problems.And yep, you can get the LT4 valve covers from the GM dealer, and hopefully find the inserts at Thunder. I am missing one of the caps for the valve cover bolts (got lost sometime ago), may need to try to dig up another one.
