Default Mustang at work...{read this!!}

Ok here is the deal. About 4 years ago my friend took a stock {40k}98gt 5speed and did everything he could do at the time,PI HEAD UPDATE,LONGTUBES,TIMING ADJUSTER,CUSTOM CHIP,3.73,dumps,CAI,PULLEYS,REAR SEAT DELETE,REMOVE SPARE,SKINNES AND E&t STREETS. The car ran a best of a 1.81 60ft {dumped clutch at 6k} and ran a 13.03/107 {40 degree weather}twice but constant 13.3's 104/105 and was beat on for 2 years. The car was then stripped of chip,timing adjuster,cai,pulleys,interior restalled,17 wheels put back on and sold. The car now has 109k on it with. The owner is a country boy I work with and he bought it because I had a 90 lx hatch at the time and a coworker had a 2000 gt. He wanted to have a car faster then us. I bought the Z28 and with the with my mods ran a my 13.7/103. Now he has never street or drag raced and is 6"6 tall. I tried to get him to run me {street/track}and is response is " your car is not as fast as mine". I informed him that in the form is car is in now the car was run that way back in the when my friend was building it and it should run low14's at 99/100. He refuses to believe me. He keeps trying to con everyone into believing his car is faster because at one time it ran a 13.0. I explained to him that if I put my car on a slick and could dump the clutch a 6k without breaking the rearend the I am sure I could get a 1.8 60ft which is .39 tenths faster then my 2.20 now and that for every tenth in the 60 adds about two tenths 1/4 usually. Which would put my car in the 13.0/13.1 range. He said "thats crap" and "you just can stand to have a slower car". You just can't talk to some people.

that was a little difficult to read. Were you a bit excited typing this or what? Not to be rude or anyhing, but did the guy with the 98gt put his car back to stock then sold it to some other guy?

some people always have that mentality. A nova guy thought his slow 350 with a shady tree installed nitrous kit would make him run 12s just because the previous owner had a built 454BBC in it and ran 12s. Heck when he had it N/A he couldn't even out run my 89 caprice!!

Put a kit on the car, with some drag radials and throw a few hundred bucks at him to run you......... simple solution...... run him...take his money... then tell him the same ****.... "you just can't handle having a slower car"........ then proceed to laugh in his face

not as easy as you would think.
if he doesnt have the right gears, or enough power hes just going to bog.

1.80 on street tires and a stock car is do able... but not common
hell half the people on here with drag radials wont even hit that.

Let him think he's faster. You have nothing to prove. Just take pride in knowing that your car is a bit qicker than his. Don't stoop to his level. Anyone who knows even only a little bit about cars will know he's lieing, so don't let him get to you. You know you're faster, so that's all you should worry about.

I own a 1995 GT, and they arn't kidding when they say 5.slow, lol

I dont have a problem with anyone who enjoys their car as long as they know their place. I can't beat an LT or LS1, but I can still beat the honda boys so I just have to take comfort in that, lol.

You think youre slow???? My 97 vert auto stock was slower than the 99+ V6 Mustang with a dirty fuel filter. Life sucked stock. Everything changed when I got blown.

Sorry about the grammer. I get fired up and type alittle to fast. Not stock, he just took the key parts{timing adjuster,chip,pulleys,skinnes,tire,weight reduction,cai.} that made it so fast and sold them. The car was first sold to someone else who beat on it for about 2 years and then sold it to this guy. The car now has PI heads/intake{non-ported,stockcams 260hp upgrade like the 99-04gt motor}, full exhaust,3.73's. He also put 17x11 out back with 315 dr's. on it and has never been in a race. Did I mention he shifts like molasses.

That was brought up when I was explaining the difference between street and track racing. How the tree works,gearing,mph,reaction time,slicks,drag radials,street tires,etc...... He doesn't understand the whole 60ft thing. He said that if my car got the same 60ft his car did back then I would only run 3 tenths faster et. Like I said he has never raced on the street/track nothing.

I wish I raced at your track! You won't get those 60ft stock trim around here.

4 years ago it put down 266/300 rearwheel. Full bolt-on with PI heads & intake,wieght reduction, skinnes,tire and a bad *** driver got those 13.0 times in 40 degree weather. Normally mid 13's.
