drag times and stuff
I decided to see what the "worst case scenario" for my car would be. I didn't take any weight out of the car except the A/C and AIR delete I did 2 months ago. spare tire and jack remained in the back. I rode on my heavy TT2s and sumitomo rubber. Along with my fat 240 lb *** its gotta be tipping the scales at 3800 lbs or more.
I went to island dragway in NJ. I dont know what the DA is. the track is 600 ft above sea level and it was in the high 70s. humidity was probably up there since it rained alot yesterday. ok enough excuses...
I ran a total of 8 times. all of them except one botched run and my best run were in the 12.8-12.9 range @ 112 mph.
heres my 3 best:
60'---2.088
330'--5.546
1/8---8.332
MPH--88.55
1000-10.720
1/4---12.727
MPH--112.53
60'---2.126
330'--5.632
1/8---8.423
MPH--88.40
1000-10.812
1/4---12.820
MPH--112.57
60'---2.090
330'--5.644
1/8---8.451
MPH--88.00
1000-10.850
1/4---12.864
MPH--112.15
I made the first pass of the day right after they sprayed down VHT. I cut a 1.995 60' on STREET tires! thats a personal best lol. after that I couldn't hook at all. I had to give it such little throttle that it shifted into 2nd before I hit the 60' mark. after it shifted into 2nd I just rode it out. one run it shifted back into 1st once I went WOT, spun ALOT, and I ended up running a 13.5 @ 110.5.
My best pass last year was:
60'....2.015
330...5.398
1/8...8.198
mph..87.54
1000.10.630
1/4...12.685
mph..109.72
the only difference between last year and this year (besides the much cooler weather for last year) are:
sumitomo street tires in place of BFG DRs, pacesetter LTs/Y-pipe in place of mac midlengths, no cat this year, hooker catback in place of SLP loudmouth, A/C & AIR delete this year, and ran with no spare/jack last year.
I don't know what else to do to add power or free up power. All the little stuff seems to be ok. my brakes aren't dragging. my plugs/wires all seem good. no trouble codes. I figured I should be trapping about 115. I set out to get 11s with this engine. My ideas are:
dyno tune, drop rear section of catback (straight pipe exiting after rear axle), remove sway bar, remove rear seats/spare/jack, put old 16x8 stock wheels back on with 255/50/R16 MT ET streets mounted on the rears.
I don't know if I can drop 8/10ths of a second with all that. thats alot of time to drop.
whats odd is just about everyone at the track runs slow too. there was an 03/04 cobra with at least pulley, CAI, exhaust, and DRs running high 12s @ 114. There was a supercharged 05-06 saleen mustang GT running 12.x @ 110. some supercharged 99+ mustang GT running low 13s trapping 107. I would say its due to the drive but everyone seems to run slow there.
It leads me to believe the track is slow. Afterwards I raced a bolt on 344 rwhp 99 T/A WS6 M6 and beat him by 4-5 cars from 40-130. Even on the 150 shot when he puts down 480+ rwhp he only took my by 4-5 cars up to 130. Im pretty even with a 360+ whp SRT-4 neon with an AGP .50 trim turbo kit with all that weight in my car. I probably have a 500-600 lb disadvantage to that car. So it seems im making close to 400 rwhp.
Oh well, I'll just keep on at it! when I first ran my 383 at the track after I got it together I ran a 13.7 @ 103! If I keep fixing stuff sooner or later I'll get to where I want to be.

If you've never had a dyno tune with a stroker and heads/cam, etc. then you are potentially missing out on some serious power, your a/f might not be anywhere near optimal, you might have knock, etc.
Secondly, tires are a huge factor in planting power. I saw a ~400hp ls1 drop 0.6 sec with tires as the ONLY change. (this was street tires to slicks, but even with something like MT radials, it would still be way better).
That said your trap speed does still seem a little low. Have you ever done a scan/datalog on any of your runs? That might give you an idea if there are any problems.

Last year I ran BFG DRs, I could cut consistent high 1.7 60' times. oddly enough my best run was when I didn't get traction. I stuck sumitomos on my "street" wheels so I could get more mileage out of them.
255 wide MT ET streets WILL hold 400 rwhp. ABA383 on camaroz28.com runs them on his 383 and sees consisten 1.5-1.6 60' times while running low 11s @ 118 or so. There was a bone stock L98 vette with a 150 shot of nitrous at the track last night running MT ET streets and cutting consistent 1.6 60' times. they were 255s as well.

I ran a best of 13.7 @ 103 my first night then kept getting slower. at one point I ran a 13.5 @ 99. The 2nd time I went to the track I dropped it to a 13.2 @ 104.5. The third time I went I ran consistent 12.6-12.7 @ 106 until one freak run I didn't hook but ran better and ran that 12.6 @ 109.
so this is my 4th trip to the track and I've gotten better every time!

Just read where you cut a 1.995 60' on STREET tires! Get a Good tire under it cut some 1.6 or faster. You'll be considerably faster.
I see your weight as well 3800+

I know of PCMforless, and Im about 2 hours from reading. they were on my list of places to possibly have my car tuned at until my engine blew while I was giving someone a ride on the street. really really loud clack, white smoke pours out of the oil cap. not smoke from antifreeze either, smells like high friction metal to metal contact.
general consensus so far is that a wrist pin failed which took out a piston. pieces of the piston probably smacked the head and destroyed that. Im expecting an almost total loss. Still haven't torn it down yet, maybe there are still things that are salvageable that can be sold.
I'm tired of battling the car. I went on after the first transmission blew, I kept going after a torque converter lockup clutch disintegrated and took out the converter and my freshly rebuilt transmission, now this is the last problem this car will cause me. Ive lost all motivation to work on it any more. the project is now done
