I will have to break the car in after overhauling the motor and re building the Tranny, what do I need to know? and what do I do?
thanks in advance.
thanks in advance.
I would be pretty easy on it for the first 1000 miles and do an oil change after like 500 then another at 3k miles and make sure there isnt a ton of metal but u probably will see a little bit of particles from bearings etc... after the 1st 1k you should be alright to beat her up. Just make sure you let it warm up before you beat on itespecially if you have new valvesprings
I go one step further - put inexpensive Chevron oil in it and change it after 50 miles or 2 hours running, whichever comes first. Change it hot and fast to keep all the particles in suspension. This will get a lot of the metal bits and breakin bits out of the motor quickly, before they have time to embed in your bearings. Change the filter at the same time.
After that run a magnetic drain plug as well. Once it's broken in, like 4K miles, switch to a quality synthetic.
I would do a similar thing with the tranny - fill with cheapo fluid, drain at 1K miles, put in good fluid and change the filter.
